Återvinna is the shared vision of Ciaran Custance and Sophie Lavis, a Melbourne-based design studio grounded in material honesty, restraint and conscious creation.

Working at the intersection of form, function and sustainability, the pair bring complementary perspectives to their practice. Ciaran’s background in furniture making is rooted in craft, structure and an intimate understanding of timber. Sophie’s experience in fashion brings a sensitivity to silhouette, texture and the emotional relationship we have with the objects around us. Together, their disciplines converge to create pieces that feel both architectural and deeply human.

At the heart of Återvinna is a commitment to reimagining recycled and responsibly sourced materials, revealing their potential through thoughtful design and careful construction. Each piece is handcrafted in their Melbourne workshop on Wurundjeri land, where process is slow, intentional and hands-on.

Guided by a philosophy of conscious design, Ciaran and Sophie challenge traditional notions of luxury. For them, luxury is not excess, it is longevity, integrity and purpose. Their work balances restraint with warmth, creating lighting and furniture that sit quietly within a space while holding sculptural presence.
